“Youth For Youth. Step Up.” 2017 - 2020 

Association KĒFA is implementing the Strategic Erasmus+ European Volunteering project, "Youth For Youth. Step Up.” based on non-formal education.

In the framework of this project, we are now hosting two volunteers from Russia for the whole year, from November and December 2017 until November and December 2018. As of September 2018, the third Russian volunteer will be admitted.

Within the framework of the project, the social inclusion of young people and the impact of EBD in Latvia through a cycle of activities for 1604 persons (children and young people aged 6 to 30, parents) are promoted. 

Within the project: 

  • Admission of 12 EBD Volunteers,
  • Volunteer support and training activities,
  • Sending youth to EBD to other countries,
  • Accreditation of new organizations and support for admission,
  • Reasearch of the greatest challenges for young people in choosing a profession,
  • Youth 8KAYCOM Camp for 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning,
  • Master Guide for Youth Workers,
  • Involving NEETs in Volunteering,
  • 43 thematic events 

All activities will use non-formal education methods - workshops, master classes, games, discussions, learning from experience and exchange of experience, mentoring, etc. 

More about the project: 

The goal of the project is to promote social inclusion among young people in a systematic way by extending the impact of EBD in Latvia.

Statistics show that in Latvia children and young people aged 16-24 (33.5%) and 25-29 (18.7%) are at risk of living in poverty or social exclusion. In Latvia, 15% of 15-29 year olds are NEETs, or in other words, about 63,000 young people are not currently engaged in employment, education or training.

The most important factors that increase the risk of poverty among young people or social exclusion are:

  • Unfavorable environment for families
  • Chemical and psychological dependencies (15 to 16 year olds in Latvia: 80% of students have tried smoking, 35% use alcohol regularly, 22% have tried drugs)
  • Lack of professional and personal competences

The goal of the project is to promote social inclusion among young people in a systematic way and to expand the impact of EBD in Latvia by organizing a cycle of activities for 1 1604 persons (children and young people aged 6 to 30, parents) from the 1st of October 2017 until the 31st of August 2020 to promote the social inclusion of young people and the impact of EBD. 

Social inclusion of young people will be promoted and the impact of EBD will be widened: among volunteers, through the opportunity to develop their competences and broaden the horizons and activities of the target audience through participation in various activities to be organized within this project.

  • Sending youth to EBD to other countries,
  • Accreditation of new organizations and support for admission,
  • Weekly classes for children and young people,
  • Campaign "I Choose Life!",
  • Reasearch on the greatest challenges for young people in choosing a profession,
  • Reasearch on the greatest challenges in bringing up children
  • Youth 8KAYCOM Camp for 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning,
  • Master Guide for Youth Workers,
  • Involving NEETs in Volunteering,
  • 43 thematic events

 

All activities will use non-formal education methods - workshops, master classes, games, discussions, learning from experience and exchange of experience, mentoring, etc. 

As a result of the project, the level of initiative and involvement of the population, the level of responsibility of the population and the level of qualification of the workforce will increase, as well as the level of unemployment and crime rate will decrease. 

The impact of this project will be the following: losses due to irresponsible performance at all levels will decrease, increase of the amount of specialists, decreasing poverty level, public spending due to unemployment support and crime reduction measures will decrease, as well as increased level of stability and security, standard of living, income in the state budget, promoters of positive change and number of innovative projects. 

Overall, the project will increase the level of social inclusion and reduce the risk of poverty and social exclusion among young people, as well as the impact of EBD in Latvia. 

The project results and lessons learned will be passed on to young people who are potential volunteers and NVO leaders, who are potential sending and hosting organizations, through the promotion of volunteering and youth initiative in Europe in the long term.
